It just offers more customization options than this does (even though I like that you can put links as words instead of just links on here). I'm sure I'll figure that out eventually over there.

Anyway, the new address is: http://thecentaurssatchel.wordpress.com/

I will still leave this blog open since I link to my guides here. I also might link to old blogs for reference.

The new blog is still a work in progress so it's a little sparse at the moment. I will spruce it up a bit in time!

Thanks so much for sticking with me in this process and see you over on WordPress! :DAnanamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-62921616941074882662012-04-04T22:20:00.003-07:002012-04-05T13:14:18.919-07:00New Name!I have decided to change the name of my blog!

I actually intended for The Wars of Guilds to be a temporary name. I was just waiting to come up with something better, and i think I have! I just hope it isn't already taken hehe.

I wanted a name that reflected Guild Wars and adventure. I originally went with The Adventurer's Knapsack, but a friend on Twitter (Sharn Vendeta) suggested this one and I felt it was more Guild Wars-y. It also has enough adventure in it and I've already started a fan fiction type story for it as well. So thank you so much, Sharn. This is a fantastic idea! It's a lot more inspiring than the previous one :)

I didn't want the name to be too specific to any class or race since I plan to play a few of each of them. I don't plan to stick to a specific one.

Also, I am possibly planning to move this blog over to WordPress. I haven't decided yet, but I will let everyone know when I make the switch.Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-18422560270721149062012-04-04T21:43:00.000-07:002012-04-06T23:48:24.508-07:00Anonymous survey for a school projectI'm doing this project for school on harassment of female gamers.

The below survey has questions for both males and females. It's very short! I promise it will only take maybe 5 minutes, probably less.

If you have a story of harassment you would like to share, please contact me on here or on Twitter. If you can, DM me. I'd like to keep it anonymous, but if you have no problem sharing who you are.

I would also like to find any males willing to admit to harassing a female online. Or did you ever have an experience where you were accused of harassing a female but you thought you were just being nice? I will keep this completely anonymous since this is going to be a project for school.

Twitter is the best way to contact me. I can send you my email through a DM. Or if you want, I think I can contact you on here. I just don't want to give my email out.

Anyway, I'll look around for a survey, but in the meantime, if I can get some responses for this, that would be awesome. I need it by this Saturday the 7th. I'll find a survey poll thing by tomorrow afternoon.

Also, please share this with as many people as you can!

Thanks!Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-90845544814140999882012-03-15T18:55:00.003-07:002012-03-15T18:55:41.599-07:00Community and Guild Wars 2

Since everyone else is writing about the community, I figured I would chime in here.

I have only been an integral part of the Guild Wars Community for a relatively short time compared to a vast majority of you. That might cause you to not take what I have to say as seriously as others, but please listen as I feel that I can offer some valid insight being a "newcomer".

While I have not been in this community as long as most people, I have been a part of the gaming community for quite some time. I was previously part of the EverQuest 2 community and I had a bit more involvement in that one than I did in the previous EQ community which is 1, at least offline. I think the reason I was more involved in that community was because I was a guild leader and I felt more obligated to get involved offline. I frequented the game forums and followed certain people on Twitter and Facebook. I didn't get too involved in events since the game is rather huge. At this time, the game was actually split into two games and I was part of the Free-to-Play part of the community. For the most part, that community was very pleasant. A lot of us knew each other and would talk in game and we all knew who were good guilds and who were not so good guilds. It had it's dark side as well, but I think that happens with most communities, regardless of how many good people there are in there. I just never felt very integrated into that community, though. I played the game, I had my guild we were a pretty tight-knit group of people and that's all we really needed for a while. Eventually, the game grew stale for me and others and we parted ways. That led me to the Guild Wars 1 and more into the Guild Wars 2 community.

I came from EQ2 kind of bored and needing something different. I wasn't really expecting to get integrated into the community since I didn't know much about it. My boyfriend and I started our characters (he had played the game previously but quit when he felt he couldn't go much further) and at first, we just went at it as a duo. We tried to join a guild at first but they turned out to be kind of lame. Some people would be turned off by this, but he had already been in the game before and assured me that not everyone was like that. We then left to start our own guild but it was just the two of us since we didn't really want to be guild leaders again so soon after EQ2 (although I did all of the leading, he just had the officer title heh). This worked out for a month or so but it got lonely and the content was becoming more challenging for us.

Then I heard about this event that was going to happen soon called Pink Day in LA, hosted by the Gaming World Entertainment Network, or GWEN for short. All I knew about it at the time was that it was some online radio station run by gamers. I thought that was kind of neat so I decided to check out this event coming up.

So the day of the event came and I went on the website and started streaming the radio station. I didn't really know what to expect but I went in with an open mind and I was blown away. I only planned on spending an hour at the party and I think I ended up staying for the whole thing and then some. I had a BLAST! It was the most fun I have ever had in a video game and I think I told that to several people that day, too. I didn't know you could have so much fun at a player run event because I had never been to a really good one like this.

I also ended up joining one of the guilds that was helping out by hosting a district. Freaks of Society, in case you are interested. I started talking to Salmon Avenger and Darth Chain and Gaven McCloud and I got along really well with all of them. At first, I wanted to maintain my guild because I thought some of my guildies from EQ2 would come over, but at that point, I didn't really want to be a guild leader anymore and just wanted to follow. We both left the guild and ended up joining FoS. One of the best decisions we have ever made.

So you might be thinking, "Well that's a nice story, but what's the point of all this?".

The point I'm trying to make with this long diatribe is that this is the best community I have ever experienced. It welcomed me with open arms and I have never been happier in a community as I am in this one. I also want people to realize this and to not be turned off by the negative Nancys in our midst.

I think Mr. Kerstein said it best on his blog post:

Our ultimate goal is to create an environment that is respectful, welcoming, inclusive and friendly. We want to create a global community where people will feel at home, and an environment that will foster both creativity and collaboration. source

For me, I have already experienced this. Not only with the GWEN folks and my own guild and alliance, but with the writers and community managers themselves. These are some of the nicest and most passionate people I have ever met. And unlike other games, they actually talk to their fans...any fans, not just those who are heavily involved in the community (GWEN Dj's, etc.). They treat you like a person, not just a dollar sign or a number.

Shouldn't we give them the same treatment? Shouldn't we treat them like they treat us? Also, shouldn't we show others who are interested in the game what an awesome community we are?

We should.

I know you can't stop every troll or every flamer and you can't make everyone happy. Our community management team does a fantastic job at keeping their cool, though. Martin and Regina and Stephane are my personal heroes and they are the reason I want to be a community manager one day. I'm not just saying this to "suck up" either. I truly mean it. They are the type of CM's that I hope to be one day. I really admire what they do. They are like the CM trifecta haha.

I admire all of the CM's, but those three hold a special place in my heart since I have seen the most interaction from them and have had the most interaction with them (at least with Regina).

My personal opinion regarding the official forums is that I can see them as a good thing. Every community is going to have their niches and smaller communities. I still plan to be on the main forums and frequent the forum I mod for and the forum I write for. I already do something like this and I'm constantly bouncing around to different communities. I am friends with everyone and I don't feel like I have to constrict myself to one forum or one site, except for ones that I spend a lot of time on, which would be the writing and moderating forums I'm on. Even then, I'm not on those as much as I'm on Twitter and that's where most of the action happens anyway.

I wouldn't look at this as splitting the community apart or even focusing it. It's just another aspect to make the community better. I plan to use the main forums mainly for a source of news or information or to recruit for a guild. I plan to stay at my other two forums since I am already integrated in those communities. You don't have to choose, you can have more than one option.

Let's just keep all of this in mind and try to make this the best gaming community ever!Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-41579558219773065412012-02-19T15:37:00.000-08:002012-02-19T15:38:57.967-08:00Canthan New Year (picture heavy!)Sorry this is so delayed, I've been busy in real life (school is kicking into high gear!) and then my birthday rolled around (on the 11th) and I got some new video games (Skyward Sword!) and yeah...that's where I've been. I've been meaning to write this for a while, but have just now got around to it.

But better late than never, right?

So Canthan New Year began on the 2nd of February and ended on the 5th.

I would have logged on at the beginning of the event, Thursday, but I was surprisingly busy that weekend. Highly unusual for me, actually. I usually have at least Thursday and Friday free to game or do whatever, but that weekend things just kept coming up. Enough of about my personal life, though. You want to hear about my escapades in the game!

So since I only had a limited amount of time, I just started doing quests to get fortunes so I could get my Celestial Dragon mini pet. I wanted this thing more than anything else! I love dragons, my name is Dragonof Chaos, it had to be mine! I had been reading all weekend how people were getting multiple pets and I figured I would be lucky enough like them, right? Ha! I have terrible luck when it comes to those things.

However, I was lucky enough after multiple fortunes to finally get my own pet! I tried to get one of my friends a pet since he had worse luck than me, but my luck had run out. More on that later. First, pictures!
Oh hai guys!

The main event of this was the finale where you feed the celestial dragon and it comes and blesses you (if it's pleased with the meal you prepare) with gifty things and the Lion's Mask. The shot above was from one of the ones I caught (I actually caught a couple of them but was intent on getting my mini). I took a LOT of screen shots of this event. You will probably see in others that my chat is filled with screen shot spam. I can't even tell you a number because I am afraid to count them. Just trust me when I say a lot.

Fierce! Happy Canthan New Year and Year of the Dragon!

That about wraps it up! I feel bad that I didn't have a lot of time to do much else. I wanted to try the Rollerbeetle Racing, too. It just didn't work out this year. I hope they bring this event and all it's fun into Guild Wars 2 for next year! I will definitely take advantage of it then. I just wish I had more time to experience this one as well.

Also, I ended up with an extra undedicated mini dragon! (Long story short, Tilion and I bought it for a friend who didn't have one yet and by the time we could give it to him, he had one) So what does one do with an extra mini dragon?! Why, they have a contest, of course!

I am co-hosting an Art and Literature contest with Dragon Season! The deadline is in 10 days (the 29th) and the details are here! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me! You can usually find me on Twitter @moosefaces or you can reply here. I frequent both these places. Or you can find me at that link as well. I am a mod there as well. Good luck!

A very Happy Year of the Dragon to you!
Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-24627658323245160672012-01-27T12:24:00.000-08:002012-01-27T12:24:38.447-08:00Blog promotion time!So I have a Guide to 30 and while I say that it's a really fast way to get 30, I have found another one that could be even faster than mine. They say you can get there in about a month or a month and a half with very little grinding and very little money spending.

I haven't tested it out, but I believe them :)

Anyway, here it is: Dragon Season's HoM guide

Check it out!

If I find anymore guides that aren't really heavily publicized (like not on Massively or whatever) I will post them here in the future and promote them as well. Everyone is different and there are so many different guides out there that you might find something helpful in many different ones so exposure is key. I don't have a ton of followers, but every little bit helps, right?

Oh and if you're on Twitter, follow DragonSeasonCom, the author of the above guide :)Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-6000491701324343592012-01-24T13:01:00.000-08:002012-01-24T14:00:47.251-08:00Don't be a Bookah! So I had my first real "foot-in-mouth" moment last night in regards to the Asura and one of the writers for Guild Wars 2.

When I was writing the blog I posted earlier, I was trying to get to the Guild Wars 2 website so I could get to the blog post about the upcoming release. Apparently, the website had other ideas. So I mentioned it on Twitter and got a response from Peter Fries, one of the writers. I then casually mentioned how it was probably an Asura "mucking things up". Yeah...wrong choice of words on that one.

My mentions started blowing up. I had @HeyBookah @Sharn_Vendeta @Lady_Gallo and a couple of others chiming in and retweeting things I said or said to me by Peter. Holy moly. That was embarrassing.

Damage control mode engaged almost immediately. Apologies were flying everywhere. I was incredibly remorseful of my comments tossed so carelessly about.

Granted, it was all in jest, and it is very, very hard to convey tone or emotion over text (I should know this by now, been in this situation before), but I still felt very bad about it. I felt guilty that I had inadvertently insulted one of the writers of Guild Wars 2, who quite possibly worked on Asura dialogue so knew them better than I did.

That being said, what I was trying to do was compare Asura to gnomes and make a gnome joke. Anyone who really knows me, knows I hate gnomes. I used to have a running gag in EverQuest 1 with a gnome where every time I saw her in the zone I would /ooc /punt and she would respond. It was fun while it lasted and then I quit the game. I wonder what ever happened to that little gnome...

Anyway, back on topic. Yes, gnomes. I now know there is no comparison between gnomes and Asura. Gnomes tend to mess things up (although some would disagree and say they fix things) and Asura are tiny geniuses who can fix anything. In fact, I'm sure Google Chrome (my browser of choice) employs a few of them.

So yeah, don't insult the Asura. Don't compare them to gnomes. Lesson learned.

These are puntable:

These, not so much (the golems tend to not be very fond of people who try to punt their masters):

Edit: I also plan on making an Asura Warrior when Guild Wars 2 launches (always planned it, but now even more so in order to learn more about them since I am obviously clueless).

Edit 2: So Peter, the gentleman that he is, tweeted me that he didn't mean to attack me (awww...) and was just trying out a quick Asura voice exercise. I told him it was very effective and I didn't feel attacked at all, just a bit overwhelmed by the response it garnered.

For the record, I'm not at all offended/upset about any of this. This is supposed to be a light-hearted, fun post. Reading through it, though, I can see how it could get a little misconstrued and I apologize if I gave that impression.
Rawr!!I know, I know. It's the Chinese New Year of the Dragon, not the year of my character. I just thought it was clever heh.

I use this as my desktop image cause the Shatterer is awesome.

So the year of the Dragon. If you follow Chinese astrology, you know all about the Dragon and its traits. I'm actually a Tiger, a Flame Tiger to be more precise. So this is not my year after all, heh.

Forgive me if I do ramble a bit, it's been a long day (first day of Spring Semester for me).

Anywho, I'm going to ramble a little bit more and then I will have a point. Actually, this is a little story. You like stories, right? Good! (If you don't, just bear with me)

So last night, I was getting ready for bed and I was on Twitter on my phone (as usual). Suddenly, Martin (one of ArenaNet's CM's) tweets a very cryptic message about checking the ArenaNet blog soon.

Wide. Awake.

Thanks Martin.

So I wait, and I wait, and I refresh my browser half a dozen times in the next 5 minutes. And finally the blog pops up. I skim the first few paragraphs talking about Year of the Dragon, yada, yada, yada...and then I see it:

"We recently finished our first closed beta test, and we’re now ready to hold progressively larger events. In February we’ll invite select press to participate in beta testing, and in March and April we’ll aggressively ramp up the size of our beta test events so that many of you will have a chance to participate. And of course, this all leads to the release of Guild Wars 2 later this year." Source

And that's when my jaw hit the floor. That's also when any semblance of sleep left me for at least another hour and a half, if not two hours. So thanks for giving me insomnia, ArenaNet, and right before my first day of Spring Semester. It's ok, it was totally worth it. I didn't get tired until I got home, anyway. This news was a wonderful start to an awesome day!

So by now, this is all old news, but I haven't been able to write about it until now.

To say I'm excited about this, would be an understatement. While I know I probably won't get into any of the beta events happening before summer, the fact that the game is going to be released this year is enough for me. :)

Of course, on the miracle I do get into a beta event, I would definitely take advantage of it.

Sorry my hiatus was a little longer than expected. I actually caught the flu which turned into a bronchitis kind of thing. I have finally felt well enough to post a blog and this one is going to be worth the wait! Yes, it's the feather farming guide I promised! Woohoo!

First, let me go over the equipment and skills you are going to need...then I'm going to give you a step by step walkthrough of the route I take..in pictures! Yes, I went through my route and took pictures of where I went, what I took with me, and how many feathers I actually got.

Also, this guide is for an Elementalist/Mesmer build. I was given this build and the equipment specs by a guildie and this has worked for him and works very well for me. For this, you don't have to be level 20, but it definitely helps. I also did this in Normal Mode, but if you want a challenge and more shot at better loot, you can try it in Hard Mode. The equipment specs are also really good for Vaettr farming as well, but I have a different build for that. I will do a guide on that as well, if there's interest for it. I don't generally do Vaettr farming because it's a little more difficult to get to and it's very nerve-wracking getting there. Once you are there, it's fine, but getting there is kinda scary. You also have to be level 20 and be able to access HM for effective Vaettr farming.

Anyway, on with the guide!

So here I am starting out in Lion's Arch.

This is what I usually carry on me when I go out for a run. I have two salvage kits only because the one on top only had 3 left. I generally take one salvage kit and one ID kit with me in case I start running out of room and need to figure out what I need to ditch or salvage. I also take along an expert salvage kit as well, but for this run I didn't bring it along.

You will notice that I'm in the Asian Japanese district. I tend to have really good luck in this one or the Korean one as far as getting golds and feathers to drop for me. Sadly, I didn't have that much luck on this run. I didn't get any golds to drop, but usually I have anywhere from 1-4 drop for me. I would try several districts, some might be luckier for you. I find the Asian ones are generally lucky for me. Your results may vary.

I didn't take screenshots of all the skills since this guide is already going to be pretty screenshot heavy, but here is the Elite skill and I will list and link all of them so you know where to get them.

So this is Shockwave and this is one of the recently updated skills for the Elementalist. Let me just say, it's awesome. Like 100x more awesome than it previously was. I love the update to it and it makes a lot of the killing go much faster. I have a few before and after screen shots I will show later on, but for now let me just list the rest of my skills.

From left to right:

Aura of Restoration

Stoneflesh Aura

Stone Striker

Mantra of Earth

Flame Djinn's Haste

Silver Armor

Shockwave

Aftershock

Also, here's the attributes you are going to need. Some are higher than you might have already due to the equipment which I'll go over next.

So there's the attributes, now on to the equipment. You are going to want the highest level equipment you can get. You don't have to have any elite armor, it just has to be the one with the highest amount of armor on it. I just got the highest level Istani gear and that works for me.

Add caption

So first thing is the "helm" and on this I have a Rune of Major Earth Magic, and a Geomancer's Insignia. On the rest of the armor, all you need is the Geomancer Rune. Pretty simple, huh?

I use a 2 hander. If you think you can get better stats with two one handers, go for it. It was just recommended to me to use a 2H so that's what I've done here and it works quite fine for me.

Ok! You have your gear, you have your skills, now let's go kill some Tengu!

Onward!

First, you're going to come out and you want to take your immediate left and head over the bridge, like so:

There are usually enemies here, either Tengu or Bog Skales or Fire Imps, it changes every time. I think I killed them or they were over the bridge when I took this.

So after you cross the bridge, make an immediate right.

And head up that hill toward the fire imps (feel free to slaughter them too, they drop Glowing Hearts which can be salvaged for granite slabs for Destroyer Weapons)

After you get up the hill, you will come into a little valley with a Resurrection Shrine. You might visit this shrine several times until you get the hang of the farming, I know I did heheh.

As soon as you get around that corner, you want to take the first left you can up a little hill. You can actually keep going straight if you want, but I find this to be the most effective route and it minimizes the potential for dying because of the way the mobs move. If you find the other way better, go for it!

On the hill tend to be Fire Imps but they are pretty easy to dispatch. Just be careful when you are up on the top because there are Tengu that roam close to the hill and if you aren't prepared for them, they can overwhelm you, especially if there are Tengu Wilds, which interrupt and do all kinds of crazy damage. Just always be aware of your surroundings and where the mobs are moving.

So once you have cleared the little hill here, you can go over the other side of it and start clearing the valley, I stick to the edge since that's where most of the mobs are. They sometimes roam randomly, but they are pretty much on the edge and they roam too. I always have ctrl and alt held down so I can see mobs and loot I might have missed.

Go after the Wilds first. Before you go after the Wilds, make sure you put all of your buffs up since they interrupt. 1-4 and 6 are what I put up before I attack them. Also, make sure you hit them with Storm Dijin's Haste first since they tend to interrupt your first or second spell, then go for Shockwave or Aftershock. You also want to make sure you keep number 1, 3, and 4 up at all times since those will save your life. It's a good idea to just keep hitting the skills as the pop up, except the last two(unless you are near mobs at the time since those are your main damage spells).

So just keep running around this little valley here, you can go up in this little alcove and kill the Fire Imps, but it's totally up to you. I do it if they are close enough, but don't usually bother with them.

After the alcove, just keep continuing around the edge of the valley here, killing any Tengu that might wander into your path.

Here's another little alcove that is usually heavily populated with Tengu. Sometimes they clump up in there and there are multiple Tengu Wilds in there. I would just wait until some of them clear out first before taking them on. Sometimes getting multiple Tengu Wilds can be very difficult. It is doable with about 2, but any more than that, and you will most likely die.
That looks like a ton of Tengu, but they are mostly wanderers and they will disperse a bit so don't worry too much, you can take them! They will come down the hill so just take them out and head up the hill where you will find 4 stationary Tengu.
So yes, I died. It happens, even to people who have been doing this a while. It does take practice, but most of the time I can do this run without dying. Although when I was starting out, there were times when I would get down to -60% but I would still finish the run because I'm stubborn heh. You can bring items with you to reduce or get rid of your debt, but I tend to just keep going. It's not a very long run and once you get it down, you can get through it without dying pretty easily.

Anyway, continuing on, just keep going up that little hill and kill all of the Tengu there.
Oh this is showing the route I took so far, up to the point where I died. If you die, just go the same route you took back to where you died. I find it easier than running straight back so I don't end up running into mobs I wasn't expecting.

So here you can see the full route I took. It's never the exact same, but it's close enough. I just go where the majority of the Tengus are. There are wanderers that you might have to go a little off this path to find sometimes, but for the most part they tend to stick around here.

And here's a gratuitous loot shot! Sometimes it is much fuller than that, and sometimes I get less than that, but I also pick up everything (whites, blues, purples, etc) so yours might vary.

And after all the feathered scalps have been salvaged, I ended up with a measly 45 feathers. Now, you might think this is actually a good haul, but I've come back with almost 100 feathers before and I average anywhere from 50-75 feathers on a run, including the feathers from the feathered scalps. This just wasn't a very good run. I did end up going back the other day and I had a much better run so it just all depends. I can get a stack of feathers in about 3-4 runs and a run takes about 30 mins or so (I haven't actually timed it though so this is purely speculative). Feathers sell for anywhere from 8-10k and if you get 7 golds you can sell them for 5k (as long as they are unidentified! Make sure you don't accidentally ID them). I generally sell my feathers for 9k and then the golds and it's an easy 14k right there.

So that concludes the feather farming guide! I hope it was helpful and if you need any help in game, feel free to PM me. My main is Dragonof Chaos, but if I'm not on that one, feel free to bug me on whoever I"m on. I'm always willing to help people out if they need it. Enjoy and good luck!Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-36876647320992925812012-01-12T23:17:00.000-08:002012-01-12T23:25:42.796-08:00Wintersday Wrap-upI'm back from my hiatus! Sorry it took a bit longer than I expected, I caught the flu which turned into a bronchial cough thing. It has been a most unpleasant experience. But I am back now! This is going to be a relatively short blog since I am working on a nice long feather farming guide :)

So this was my first Wintersday and I was introduced to the wonders of Automated Snowball Tournaments, or ATs as they are generally called. The beauty of these things is that you can participate or not participate if you want. You can have an entire team go afk (except for one person to hit "Join" during each round so you don't get disqualified). You get tourney points if you lose which you can use to spend on zkeys. You get 20 points if you lose the tourney and that gets you 4 zkeys. This was a great way to farm zkeys for the title or for selling. I used it for the title and went from 200 points in my title track to getting it to rank 3 which is 1,000 points. And I ended up with even more that I have sold and it has helped fund some of my other Hall of Monuments stuff. It was great!

Other than that, I did a few of the quests and a few of the dungeons in hope that I would get the mini polar bear ...no such luck on that one lol, but it is super rare. Ahh well :) It was still fun. I found Straight to the Heart to be a bit easier than Strength of Snow, only because you got Grenches to help you kill the snowmen. Strength of Snow was definitely faster, but I found myself dying more with that one.

I also ended up getting the Wintersday Festival Hats and they are quite lovely! I wish we could dye the scarves, but they are still really cool, as is the hood (which can be dyed).

Overall, much fun was had by all. I even went to a few parties and had a blast, as usual. It was a wonderful first Wintersday and I hope they have similar events in Guild Wars 2. I look forward to hopefully spending my next one there :)

Until tomorrow (or whenever I get around to finishing my feather guide up..it's about a quarter of the way done, but don't quote me on that since I'm not very good at math haha!)Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-91265774923825633912012-01-08T23:07:00.000-08:002012-01-08T23:07:33.314-08:00Small HiatusHey everyone who reads my blog!

I am on a short hiatus from the game and the blog. I just need a few days to recharge my batteries after the marathon playing of Wintersday fun. I've also been doing some real life stuff like hanging out with my mom and getting ready for classes which start in a few weeks.

I should be back to normal the day after tomorrow (Jan 9th) and I'm going to start working on a feather farming guide to help people earn money.

After that, I will also be doing a belated write-up of my experience with the Snowball Automated Tournaments (ATs) and Wintersday in general.

Also, quick update on my Hall of Monuments journey: I have all my rubies for my Vabby armor, I just need 11 more Sapphires. I am also still needing an armbrace and to finish the Prophecies campaign.

So I'm still pretty much in the same spot. I want to get to 30 before I go back to school.

Anyway, I will see you all in a few days when I do my feather farming blog!Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-88497706030622372782012-01-04T12:25:00.000-08:002012-01-21T18:53:53.614-08:00HoM Guide to 30 Part 2Hi! Welcome back to the second part of my Hall of Monuments Guide! In this section, I am going to talk about the Heroes and Pets section and the Weapons section, if it doesn't get to wordy, I will also cover the Titles section since I didn't end up getting very many of those. Feel free to refer back to Part 1 if you need to!

HoM Points from Part 1: 9

Off we go!

Heroes and Pets

The first pet I got was the Black Moa. This didn't take very long to get since we (my boyfriend and I) were already in Factions anyway. All you have to do to get this is do the quest Beak of Darkness and there you go! Any pets you put in your Hall have to be level 20 and when you charm the Moa, it's already at level 20. It's probably the easiest pet to get.

The other pets are relatively easy to get as well, with the exception of the Black Widow which requires you to go into the Underworld. You can also buy the pets from the Zaishen Menagerie but it takes a lot PvPing to get it. It all depends on you though and what you want to do. I skipped the Black Widow and just ended up getting more hero armor instead.

Hero armor is pretty easy to get if you buy it or if you go do the missions. We did the one mission to get Sunspear armor a few times and we got those to drop for us. That is how we got our first two hero armors. The rest I bought, although 2 of them were given to me as gifts. In all, I have 10 statues.

Oh! I found out that the heroes do not have to be level 20 to be put in your Hall. All you need for them is the armor.

As for obtaining the Heroes, I would suggest starting in Nightfall since that gives you the most, then go to Eye of the North which gives you even more. You can also start in EotN as those heroes are at 20 and then go to Nightfall, but it's up to you. I can't remember what we did exactly, but as soon as we could go to the other campaigns from Prophecies, we went to either EotN or NF to get heroes.

Also, if you have the Game of the Year edition, you get MOX and he can be put in the Hall without any special armor at all.

These are the pets/heroes I have:

Master of Whispers

Koss

Dunkoro

Acolyte Sousuke

Livia

Pyre Fierceshot

Animal Companion

Black Moa

Imperial Phoenix

MOX

The Animal Companion statue is for the Black Moa. You can get a regular animal companion too if you want, but any rare pet counts for the statue as well so it's rather like killing two birds with one statue heh.

All of these I got over time so I am not sure how long it took me to get them individually. It was kind of like the mini pets, I would get one when I would see one for sale or I would win them. I won a few of the hero armors from an event and was given a couple of them for Wintersday.

The Phoenix I actually death leveled to 20 since it was only level 5 at the time I captured it. It was a fairly simple process which you can find on the wiki so I won't go over it here. That took me about an hour and I left my computer while it was going since it's boring sitting there watching you kill yourself over and over again.

So when all is said and done, that will give you 6 more points in your HoM. This one is fairly easy, like the mini pets since most of it can be bought from other players if you want to.

Points you now have: 15

This leads us on to Weapons.

Weapons

Weapons are relatively easy to get as well...and surprisingly cheap (says the person who has money). If you want to just flat out buy the weapons, the going rate for all but the Tormented is 65k. I find this rather reasonable considering the time it would take to get all the materials you need for those two weapons.

Oppressor Weapons- this one has been touted as the easiest to obtain. I actually won mine, but if you aren't lucky enough to win one, all you have to do is complete War in Kryta and you will earn enough Medals of Honor for one. If you don't want to do that, you can buy War Supplies and trade them for MoH. You need 250 WS for 10 MoH for one weapon. You can find WS for cheaper than the MoH generally. When in doubt, look at Argos.

Destroyer Weapons- These are slightly harder to get, but still easier than Tormented. Once I realized I had the materials for this, it was pretty easy. You do need two kinds of rare materials for this weapon, Diamonds (which you can find the hard way or just buy off the Rare Material Trader which is what I did) and Onyx Gemstones (same deal as Diamonds). I ended up buying my rares and while it was a tad bit expensive (I think at the time Diamonds were around 2.5k or something, now they are up to around 3k) it was worth it to me since I didn't want to go running around trying to get them the hard way. It saved me time and sanity and those are much harder to make than money, haha. Getting to the place where you craft the weapons is relatively easy as long as you have completed A Time For Heroes, which is the last mission in EotN. Or, as always, you can just buy a weapon from someone but make sure it's not customized to them, or you will not be able to put it in your HoM.

Tormented- Again, you can get this the easy way or the hard way. I have yet to get this one as I need the ectos to buy the armbrace for it. They typically go for 23 or 24 ectos (I bought mine for 23 ectos and 8k, so essentially 24 ecto) and you need one to trade for a weapon. You also need to complete NightFall to be able to gain access to the place that offers the weapons, or you could have someone go for you, but I'm a do-it-yourselfer (for some things, anyway) and I like to go pick out my own weapon. Plus I'm super indecisive most of the time so it takes me a while to pick out my shiny. This is my plan though, if you want to get one yourself, there's a lovely guide on the wiki for that. I have more interest in getting them as quickly as possible so I'm not going to go into detail about it.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Make sure that if you got a weapon for another character that you bring that character to your HoM to dedicate it because as soon as you dedicate it, you can only use it on that character. That's right. It customizes to your character. It even warns you before it does it..but some of us are oblivious and we just click, click, click...yeah..so now my ranger has a nice shiny destroyer staff for a Ritualist! So now I run a ritualist build every once in a while to justify the expensive staff my ranger has. Just be aware of that. Also, you need tapestries to put weapons/armor/heroes and pets/mini pets in your HoM for each character! Until you get those tapestries (which are pretty easy to obtain by doing the quests in EotN or by buying them) you just have to hang on to your weapon.

As for how long it took me to get these, not too long once I had all the materials. I got them the same day I had all the materials. It takes more time to get to some of the places than it takes to get the materials, unless you have someone you trust get them for you or buy them. The tormented took the longest because I had to get ectos. I got 15 ectos and then just bought the rest. It took me about 4 days to get 15 ecto, your mileage may vary, though. `

After all is said and done, this will give you 4 more points.

Points you now have: 19

The last few points come from the Honor (Titles) Monument. This is one of the easiest to fill, as we are only going to take on 5 titles. Although, one of them is the PvP title, so maybe not as easy as you think.

Honor(Titles)

So this is probably one of the easier ones since you only need 5 titles to get the remaining points (although you can work on this one as you are doing the other ones as well).

If you do all three campaigns, that's three titles right there! But wait, there's more! If you go finish and elite dungeon like Fissure of Woe (this is the one I did) that's another title that doesn't require grinding.

The last title you need, and this one could require grinding, is the PvP title. This is worth a whopping 3 points! It's quite intimidating if you don't want to PvP (I'm not a very big PvP'er). ArenaNet must of thought this through because they have this wonderful thing called a Zaishen Key (zkey)! How does one obtain these wonderful things? Well, through PvP! But...that doesn't make sense!

Let me explain further: there are many ways to obtain zkeys that don't require you to PvP. You can do the daily missions, quests, bounties to gain Zaishen coins which can be used to get zkeys, but this takes a really long time. You can also buy them, but at 5.5-6k a pop, that can get really expensive. You can win them. You can do Jade Quarry, which while it is PvP, it's not as bad as the straight PvP and I find it quite fun. Yes, you have to fight people but there's strategy involved in it and you get faction if you win or lose so either way, it's a win. All you need is the faction to trade for zkeys. This is all stuff you can find on the wiki but I'm sure you are dying to know how I got my 200 zkeys so darn quick.

Well, first I started doing JQ's and I got to about 65 points in the title track. I stopped for a little bit and then they had a double faction weekend for JQ's. I jumped on that! I ended up going from 65 to 200 points throughout the weekend. Others were more hardcore than I was and went further but there is only so much PvP I can take before I get burnt out. For the rest of my points, I recently participated in the Snowball Automated Tournaments, or ATs as they were commonly referred to. I went from 200 points to 1,000 over the course of the event, and even had some zkeys left over to sell. Of course, there were times when I would leave my boyfriend's account logged into one of our ally's AFK groups and just get keys for being in the group. That helped too.

I know it's a little late to do this now, but keep your eyes open for events like the double faction. I found out on the wiki that was what the weekend event was, just check the wiki every week. I keep it on my hotbar right next to Twitter and check it every day (I also follow them on Twitter, but it's been a while since they posted).

Also, there are several other PvP titles, like the Gamer title which counts toward the PvP statue. I ended up getting a full rank and a half by doing the Ats on my characters and I wasn't even really trying. I believe you advance this one by doing holiday PvP events, which tend to be a little easier than usual PvP (and really fun sometimes, but I'll do a write-up on that later).

Oh and one great thing about PvP titles is that they only have to be up to Rank 3 to be put in the HoM, you don't have to max these titles out to put them in your HoM.

However, I've been told the easiest way for a non-PvP'er is the zkey route...plus you get cool stuff from the chest as well which you can sell and fund other things for your HoM.

For me, this was the path of least resistance as I did not want to grind out titles. The only title that was a bit of a grind was the PvP one. If you don't want to do that, there are other ways to get the extra 3 points you need without grinding titles, but you also need another title in Honor to get the 5 title points. I would suggest doing another dungeon like Urgoz's Warren (you also get Kurz faction for that which can go toward Amber Chunks for your Kurz armor). When all is said and done, you should have 11 points in your Honor monument.

Points you now have: 30

That concludes this guide! I actually have a few more points to get since I haven't hit 30 yet, but this is the way I have achieved it in a relatively short amount of time. It is doable, you just have to pay attention to things and take advantage of things, like double faction weekends and community run events. Getting into a great guild is also a plus, but this is all able to be done solo, it just might take you a little longer than it took me. Also, feel free to check out your own HoM calculator because there might be something on there that you feel like you could do instead of what I suggested to get points in other ways. Someone on MMORPG.com suggested the Protector title tracks could be a good one since most people have most of those done. I didn't go this route because some of the bonuses were near impossible for me to get. Instead, I went with doing one of the elite dungeons. I hope this helps you out and good luck getting to 30! See you in Guild Wars 2!
I have also been able to get close to 30 in a relatively short amount of time.As of right now I am 30/30 (although keep in mind I am a college student so a lot of this was done when I was on vacation from school and some of it was help from guildies/allies and a very wonderful Secret Santa) but for the most part, I did a lot of this on my own with very little help from people. I'm also doing this in several parts as it could get long and wordy.

I also got there pretty quick considering I started playing July 29th of last year (2011 for those of you who might read this in the future!). I completed my 30 on January 21, 2012. It took me a little less than 6 months (probably would have taken me less time if I had more time to play and hadn't got sick).

Anywho, on with the show!

Minipets

Being a new player, I did not have the luxury of having a bazillion mini pets in my inventory due to birthday gifts. So what's a newbie to do? Hit Spamaden! (Kamaden for those not familiar with the nickname) You can also find people selling in Eye of the North or Lion's Arch, but I have found that some of the best prices are in Kamaden. I have gotten first year white minis for as low as 500g, but typically they sell for 1k. I would refuse to buy any first year minis for more than that. They are the most common and, in my opinion, are not worth more than 1k. Others can go upward of 10k or more, but I have never paid more than 10k for a white mini. That's a little ridiculous, unless it's a rarer white mini that not a lot of people have, then I can see the logic. Anyway, I filled my HoM with the white minis pretty easily and pretty inexpensive as well. I think the most I paid for one was 5k or 6k? I can't really remember as I didn't keep track. You just have to know how to wheel and deal, something I'm very good at. Most people will be accommodating and will bargain with you. If you really want to know if you are getting a good deal, check out http://argos-soft.net/GwEstimator/ . It's not the most accurate since it just takes the data from the trade channel of Kamaden, but it will give you a good idea of what people are selling them for.

As for gold (rare) mini pets and green (unique) mini pets, well there are a few ways to get these. Some golds drop in game, other than the bday presents, but like their name suggests, they are pretty rare (unless you are one of those annoying lucky people that gets rare drops all the time). The green ones are a little harder to get, but there is an in-game, cross campaign, scavenger hunt to get one. It takes a bit of time, most of the 3 campaigns to be open, and a bit of money to do, but it's worth it. You could always buy one, but I found the Black Moa Chick to be very rewarding...even if a lot of people have them. The other ways to get green minis are to get them as drops throughout the world.

So once you have 20 miniatures, including the rare and unique one, that should put you at 5 points. Woo! I can't remember how long it took me to get all of that, but not too long as I bought most of my minis. The rare and a few whites were given to me from guildies.

Oh! Very important: make sure you write down all the minis you have and keep that by your computer. That way you know which ones you have and you don't end up buying duplicates. I made that mistake once. It's also a good idea to keep track of other things, like for armor.

Points you now have: 5

Which leads us to our next section...

Armor

For a lot of people, armor is the hardest and the most expensive to get. I agree with this. It took me a few weeks to get all of the stuff I needed for my first armor set, which was the Ancient armor. I just salvaged everything that said salvageable on it, I would sell stuff that had improved sale value to make other money and I went to the material makers (before I realized that sometimes it was cheaper to go to the Rare Material Traders) and had the rare material crafted. I found later that sometimes guildies are willing to give you extra rare (or even common) materials you might need, so don't be shy about asking. Also, offer to pay them for it too. Most of the time, they will just give it to you, but every once in a while (like if it's super rare) they will want to sell it to you. It all depends on the person though.

For my second set of armor, the Elite Kurzick, I was actually given the amber chunks which are the really rare materials needed to make them. I participated in a Secret Santa exchange and mine gave me the Amber Chunks and two hero armors which is what I needed. It was a huge burden lifted for me since I was just planning to buy the Amber Chunks off of the Rare Material Trader at about 1k each. You need 80 if you want the full set (which I got). You only need 75 if you plan to not get the helm. Also, the way you regularly get the Amber chunks is buying them with Kurzick faction which you can get by doing many forms of PvP. The most common in Jade Quarry which you can find a write-up for here. Then you can buy the chunks for 5k kurz faction. If you'd rather have the Luxon armor, it's the same thing, just on the Lux side. Although the Jadeite Shards are much cheaper on the Rare Material Trader...so that's something to consider if you want to buy them.

You don't need to buy the headpiece of your armor for it to be in the HoM. I did because by the time I remembered that, it was too late and I had already had the facemask (for ranger) made. For my third set, I'm not getting the helm as this is the most expensive set

Now for the last set of armor (I'm only shooting for 3, 2 of which are a point of their own), I am going for the Vabbian armor set, which is probably the second most expensive in terms of materials needed. You need 14 sapphires and 14 rubies if you don't get the helm (which I did not get this time).

My strategy for the Vabbian armor is pretty simple. Since the rubies and sapphires are the same price as Ectos (glob of ectoplasm) on the RMT, I just get ectos and trade them for rubies/sapphires 1:1. Now acquiring ectos is all up to you. So far, I've either farmed them or won them. You can also buy them but you might as well buy the rubies/sapphires off the RMT if you are going to go that route. It's really up to you and how quickly or inexpensively you want to get your armor.

As for the rest of the material, it's all pretty standard. You actually need a lot less material for this one than for most elite armor sets. Not including the helm you need:

28 Elonian Leather Squares

14 Sapphires

14 Rubies

175 cloth

20 platinum

It looks deceptively easy, but the Sapphires and Rubies can be a pain to get. The wiki has other suggestions on how to get them, but for me, buying them off the RMT or trading ectos for them seems to be the easiest way.

This should give you 4 points toward your HoM calculator.

As with everything, you can always get lucky and win a set of armor or anything if you tune into GWEN radio, especially when they have an event going on.

Points you now have: 9

So that concludes the first part of this guide. It's not in the exact order that I did it, but I will update it when I complete anything that I have yet to complete. I will get the next part out as soon as I can.

Enjoy!
Woohoo! I only have 9 to go!

I never thought I would get this far, but I am persistent when I put my mind to something and I get it done.

The only things I really need are to complete the rest of the campaigns (Prophecies and Nightfall) and I need the rest of my zkeys (currently sitting at around 400 points, can't remember the exact number). I also just need a tormented weapon and the Vabbian armor, which I really just need the sapphires and rubies for(oh, and the platinum heh). I also need to do a Urgoz run or some other run that gives me one other statue so I won't have to grind one(other than the zkey one).

Other than that, I am almost there! It's been relatively easy. I also would be a lot farther if I hadn't had school but you know, real life comes first.

I will detail what all I did at a later date. I'm just really tired and kind of sick so it will have to wait. Also, sorry the blogs have been few and far between. I've spent most of my time playing the game, except for today since I needed a break, and I have also been making Christmas gifts.

I will try to pick up the slack and post a little more after Christmas, or maybe even before.

If you don't hear from me before then (which you probably will), have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy your holidays!Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-62212329885558560922011-12-12T15:29:00.000-08:002011-12-12T15:30:01.325-08:00PvP!So, I'm really not a PvP'er. I like just being able to kill mobs and not have them fight back too hard against me. I'm kind of a wuss, or at least I thought I was.

A couple of weeks ago, Guild Wars had a double Balthzar/Imperial Faction weekend for Jade Quarry/ Fort Aspenwood type PvP. I spent all weekend doing Jade Quarry and I have now grown to love PvP, at least that type of PvP. I'm still a little skittish when it comes to full on just killing people PvP. The one experience I had in that was terrible. I got laughed at for having Barrage and it kind of scared me away from the whole thing.

But JQ, I love JQ. :)

First let me explain a little about what JQ is, in case you are unfamiliar. Basically, you have a team of people and they are trying to get enough jade into their quarry before the other team. The first to 10 points wins. There are 3 quarries and you have to capture them and hold them while your Juggernaut(Kurzick) or Turtle(Luxon) carries the jade from that quarry to your base.

Sounds simple, right? Ha! Not so fast!

Not only do you have to keep the quarries from being taken over from the opposing teams, you have to also keep the opposing team from killing your Juggernaut or your Turtle as well as take over guard towers that they might have taken over that are in the path of your respective thing that is carrying your jade. Doing most or all of this almost always guarantees success.

The strategy that I have found most effective, at least on the Kurzick side, is to only worry about two of the quarries. Get the Yellow Quarry and the Purple Quarry and just semi ignore Green. You can cap it but the previous two quarries are the closest to your base. Keep your team pretty even on those, as well as having someone using "Make Haste!" on your Juggernaut and you'll do pretty well. Also, only worry about the guards that are along the path that your Juggernaut takes. They are pretty powerful and will kill it pretty fast if you don't have them taken over.

Of course, there are many other strategies, but this is the one I found most effective, even though I got chewed out and was met with sarcasm once when I tried to suggest it. That team ended up losing and I quietly laughed at them.

Overall, I loved doing JQ all weekend. I probably wouldn't do that again unless they had another double faction weekend though. It got a little tiring dealing with some people and the attitudes of some people but overall it was a great experience, even if most of the matches my team lost (not because of me though hehe). With the double faction, it didn't matter if we lost, we still got a lot of faction and that was worth it for me.

As for what build I used, I have a ranger/ele build that is so perfect for JQ. It might need some tweaking, but I find it to be pretty effective.

I would insert a screenshot here, but I'll just tell you what I used and you can try it or tweak it to your liking. I find it to be pretty effective offensively..not so much defensively though. It's also great for groups of things, which JQ has a lot of.

From left to right: Lava Arrows, Barrage, Inferno, Firestorm, Hunter's Shot, Pin Down, Storm Djinn's Haste, and Troll Ungent

Oh nevermind, here's a screenshot anyway. And yes I screencapped that because of the score..cause obviously I'm still 12 heheh.

This is a pretty decent build, especially ranged. I keep Inferno on me for when people get close to me, it helps deal a little extra damage. Pin Down is amazing and helps a ton when people are trying to flee from my rain of fire. I wish I had something that healed a little faster so I might try switching that out, but as long as I don't get hit with interrupts, it's fine. I hardly use the runspeed thing, but it does come in handy when I need it. The only thing is that it drains energy so use it when you aren't planning on attacking people. Hunter's Shot is awesome for health degen. And the other three are pretty much just for aoe damage.

I wish there was a way to tell how many people you killed because I think that would be awesome. :) I know I didn't kill a whole lot, but I was a great assist and I did kill a few people.

I was quite successful in advancing my Zkey count. I went from 65 points in the title track to 200 points in the course of the weekend. I could have gotten more but I can only take so much PvP before my brain turns to mush. That is still pretty impressive for the amount I played. For a while, I was getting a zkey every match.

Overall, I had a fantastic experience. I would like to try other builds though and maybe other characters as well. I would have to run them there, but I think it would be worth it. I saw some amazing players that pulverized me into the ground and all I could think of was what their builds were and if would be easy to get them, as I wiped the dirt out of my mouth and got back up to try to take them on again.

Oh and for the record, my least favorite opponents were Assasins, Mesmers, Dervishes, and Necros. Absolutely frustrating to go up against, especially one on one. Massive respect to the people who played those well, though. I admire your skill.

So yeah, that's about it for this blog post. Sorry it's so long and wordy, it's been a while since I posted so I figured I would make up for it a little :)Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-14155595631313192162011-11-21T17:32:00.001-08:002012-01-03T13:38:49.975-08:00Hall of Monuments Secret Santa thingySo I found out about this secret santa thing that Talktyria is doing and I think I'm going to sign up for it even though I'm pretty poor and I pity the person that gets me hehe. Not really. I'm sure I could pull something off. I don't really mind farming stuff as long as I know where to farm and it's not too hard to get to.

I have to make my wish list and put 10 things on it. This is pretty easy. The hard part is going to be deciding what is the most expensive of those since at least 4 of those things that I want is pretty expensive...considering I only have 14 points in my HoM.

5 of the points I need, I just need to finish the 3 campaigns and get the masters/bonuses in one of them. I also need the pvp title which I plan to get zkeys for. so that's actually 8 points. I think the thing I would want the most would be zkeys since I don't really want to grind/buy those. But then the thought occurred to me that I should ask for stuff for an armor set instead. Either Vabbian/Obsidian or Kurzick since those give me one point each and then getting 3 sets of armor would give me another point. I already have one set, the ancient armor which looks really awesome on my ranger, by the way. I just want to get the three sets since 5 sets seems a little too far out of my reach. Although, once I have 3, I could probably get 5 pretty easily. Eh...we'll see.

Anyway, looking through my HoM, I would also want to get a Tormented and Destroyer weapon for one point each. Then for the mini pet section, I just need a unique and a rare and I'll be happy with that. I can't remember what else I want right now but I think that will get me to 25 points which is all I really want right now. One of my guildies keeps pushing me to go for 30 but after 25, there's nothing I really want. Although, it's super tempting. I just don't want to have to grind titles so I would have to figure out a different way to get to 30...probably more hero statues...those are actually the easiest for me to obtain.

So got a little off topic, but as far as my wish list goes (and I'm going to post this on their forum too) it would probably go something like this:

1. vabbian or <strike>obsidian or kurzick armor (for a ranger, have regular mats, would just need rares)</strike> SS came through with the Amber chunks I needed. Awesomesauce.
2. <strike>200 zkeys (Still working toward this..about halfway through Rank 2 currently)</strike> DONE! Woohoo!
3. <strike>Destroyer weapon</strike> Got this one by myself.
4. tormented weapon
5. <strike>Rare mini</strike> Was given 2 on the day of the gift exchange. Dedicated one, not sure what I'm doing with the other one yet.
6. <strike>help with acquiring black moa chick </strike> Got this one thanks to my guild and myself
7. <strike>three more hero armors</strike> 2 were given by the Secret Santa (who ended up being my SS)
8. <strike>help completing bonuses/masters in one or two campaigns</strike> reworked it so I don't need these anymore.

I have done a pretty good job thus far of filling out my HoM on my own. I think the thing I would want the most is the zkeys though. The armor I could live without but 3 points for the pvp title, there is no way I can pass that up. So yeah..that's pretty much my wish list. I hope I can get at least one of those things..any of them would help a lot and would be one less thing I would have to get myself...especially the zkeys or armor. The rest of the stuff, I'm not really worried about but those two things would be a huge help.

Edit: This is going to be edited as I get these things. It's going to help keep me organized for what I still need in order to reach 30 points. If anyone would want to donate or trade me any of these items, that would be awesome. I would welcome it. Just let me know in game: Dragonof ChaosAnanamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-36042222760333592422011-11-10T16:03:00.001-08:002011-11-10T16:04:11.998-08:00The Origin of Kitty Food
(what does this have to do with Guild Wars? You'll see at the bottom!)

So my SO will probably kill me for telling people this, but what's life without the threat of bodily harm, eh? (that's a joke by the way, he can't actually harm me, I'm bigger than him)

Anyway, so I say random things to him and one thing I say constantly is, "The kitty's going to eat you!". I don't even know where this evolved from or where in my twisted mind it came from, but it got a reaction out of him so I kept doing it.

Then one day, my brain connected that phrase with the words Kitty Food and that's now his new nickname (which he hates...sorta).

Thus, on Guild Wars, my necromancer was born! I was totally shocked when it worked..I thought for sure someone had taken that name...but I guess no one is as twisted or warped as I am. And they don't live with someone whose pet name is Kitty Food.

Oh also, according to the Chinese zodiac, I'm a Tiger and he's a Monkey...yeah..Kitty Food!
Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-88132024339325933062011-11-08T12:05:00.000-08:002011-11-08T12:05:15.218-08:00Pink Day in LA (Lion's Arch)So this post is almost a month old, but better late than never. Plus I'm a horrible procrastinator and I'm a college student so I'm busy...sort of. Mostly, I just procrastinated.

Anyway, this was my first experience with an event in Guild Wars since I started playing at the end of July. I didn't really know what to expect and I ended up in District 4 of LA which was being helped out by a guild called Freaks of Society. I had only planned on staying for maybe an hour or two to check it out but I ended up staying for 8ish hours? I don't really remember but it was practically all day and pretty much the whole time the event happened.

I had a blast. I won an oppressor weapon for my HoM, won some other little things from people not affiliated with FoS or Pink Day. It was the most fun I've ever had in an mmo ever. Seriously. I can't remember ever having this much fun in any other game. The community of GW is amazing. And it was all for cancer research. They raised a little over $10,000 in one day with this event. How awesome is that?

At the end of the event, I started talking to Salmon Avenger, one of the members of FoS and I was interested in possibly joining as part of their alliance. I then realized that my guild I was in was going nowhere (we were a guild of 2 people lol) and I didn't really feel like recruiting anymore or even being a guild leader anymore. It was fun for a little while, but I just wanted to go back to being a member of a guild for a while. So I ditched Bunniesof Chaos and became a Freak of Society. I got my fiancee' to join too.

So at the end of the day, I made a ton of new friends and had a new guild and a new weapon for my HoM. It was the best experience in an MMO ever. I look forward to Pink Day in GW2 now even more, as well as Halloween and all the other events.Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6443657701326331462.post-80114536533092370662011-11-08T11:51:00.000-08:002011-11-08T11:51:16.205-08:00Obligatory first postSo this is now my third blog. The Evercracked one is retired since I no longer play Everquest 2 and will probably never play it again. The other blog is just random personal stuff that has nothing to do with video games and I'd like to try to keep it that way. This blog is pretty much going to be about Guild Wars, but I might talk about other video games too. I'm just kind of obsessed with Guild Wars right now.

So a little bit about my character in this game:

The name is Dragonof Chaos which is a reoccurring name I have used in many games. Why this name? I love dragons...and if I was a dragon, I'd be one of chaos (aren't they all, though?). I was originally Dragonof Solusekro because that was the server I started on in EQ1, but when I got to EQ2, they wouldn't let me have my last name so I switched to Chaos because at the time, I was the guild leader of Bunnies of Chaos..plus it just sounds awesome.

Anyway, I played EQ2x for about a year, got to max level and got bored of the game. Now I'm in Guild Wars and I will be going over to Guild Wars 2 as well. The name of Dragonof will live on!
Like I said, this blog will be about my adventures in GW with the guild I joined, Freaks of Society. They are a lot like the Bunnies of Chaos which is why I joined them after the failed attempt of trying to bring BoC over to GW.
I am not sure how much I will actually post here, but we'll see. I'm pretty busy irl and honestly, I'd rather be playing than writing about playing...but we'll see how it goes.Ananamoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16587577675422931589noreply@blogger.com0
